          Rosslyn Chapel Visitor Charter

1. Conserve energy.
Reduce energy by switching off lights and closing windows if heating is on.  The Energy Saving Trust provides information on what you can do at home.

At Rosslyn Chapel we have motion detectors in our toilets to ensure that lights are not left on when not in use.  We also use low energy light bulbs.

2.Give the car a rest.

Leave the car behind, if only for a day.  Walk, cycle or use public transport.

At Rosslyn Chapel we provide bike stands for cyclists.  We also provide links on our website to the local bus company websites.  There is also a link to a walking website so people can plan their journey before they leave.

3. Shop local.
Use local products, they give you a flavour of the area and help support local communities.

The Rosslyn Chapel Coffee Shop uses the very finest local ingredients in its products and when you purchase from the coffee shop, you are supporting 16 other local businesses.

4. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Try to avoid overly packaged goods.

Rosslyn Chapel Trust tries where possible to stock items that do not require extra packaging.  We also sell rulers made from recycled CD's and we are hoping to extend this range in the future.

5. Be water wise.
Please use water wisely.  Turn off the tap when possible.

At Rosslyn Chapel, the taps in our toilets are fitted with an aerator which increases the flow of water without increasing the actual water used.  All our facilities are fitted with hand-dryers rather than towel dispensers, again cutting down on waste.

6. Support Green Tourism Business.
There are hundreds of businesses trying to reduce their environmental impacts through the Green Tourism Business Scheme.  Businesses are awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold for their efforts to be more environmentally responsible.
